Young voices for democracy: EU Youth Dialogue brings together young people from Germany and Denmark

On November 7, 2025, a special meeting of young people from Germany and Denmark took place at the Danish Embassy in Berlin: The event “EU Youth Dialogue – Youth Participation in Germany and Denmark” was jointly organized by the Danish Embassy in Berlin, the Bertelsmann Foundation, and the German Federal Youth Council (DBJR). The focus was on how young people can actively shape democratic processes in Europe.

The event is part of the EU Youth Dialogue and Denmark’s Presidency Program in the Council of the European Union. Around 100 young activists from youth associations, organizations, and democratic youth parties from both countries came together in Berlin to exchange experiences, learn from each other, and develop joint recommendations for strong youth participation in Europe.

After a welcome address by Barbara Gessler, Head of the EU Commission Representation in Berlin, EU youth representatives Eva-Marie Deckers and Emma Klint Hansen from Germany and Denmark framed the event by presenting the results of the EU Youth Dialogue’s national surveys. The participants then explored the topics in more depth in several workshops, where they developed proposals on how to strengthen youth participation in the EU.
